Auburn 2022 Recruiting Board: Running Back

Auburn has been somewhat selective with their RB targets despite it being a huge position of need in this class. I expect AU to take at least 2 RBโ€™s in this class (possibly one transfer).

This is the Board for RBโ€™s as it stands right now. There will almost certainly be another RB or two offered by Auburn.

I have added intel that Iโ€™ve gathered as well as a quick breakdown of each guyโ€™s skill set.

AUโ€˜s Interest Level: ๐™ท๐™ธ๐™ถ๐™ท

Quinshon Judkins is positioned high atop the Auburn RB board; If he is not number 1, heโ€™s very close to it. Already around 200 pounds and a frame that can hold more. I love his acceleration and his ability to change gears while staying near top speed. He knows when to lower his shoulder and when to cut towards space to make the most out of every touch. Right now, I like AUโ€™s chances with Judkins. Florida and Penn State look to be the biggest competition.

AUโ€˜s Interest Level: ๐™ท๐™ธ๐™ถ๐™ท

AU seems to have honed in on Hamptonโ€”and it is pretty clear why. He is already physically developed heading into his senior season and has established himself as a powerful runner. At 210+ he has the frame to add 10-15 more pounds. He has good vision for a power back while also having the one-cut, slasher ability. Hampton will officially visit Auburn in June which seems to imply his interest. Auburn should be in this one and a visit will absolutely help with that. Still a ways to go in this recruitment.

Alston owns a stocky build with a low center of gravity. He excels between the tackles and running through contact and arm tackles. Iโ€™m impressed with his ability to run away from people in the open field to add to his skill set: the potential to be a complete RB in college. Auburn is heavily pursuing along with other big programs such as Georgia And LSU. The reclassification option remains on the table but it is unclear whether or not that will happen. It will be interesting to see where Alston plans to visit.

Pettaway was recently offered by AU and has mentioned them as a school that has a shot at getting an official visit. He is a different kind of back than the others listed to this point. Pettaway holds a smaller build at 5โ€™11 185, but has great top-end speed. I consider him to be a homerun hitter: a guy who has the potential to score every time he touches the ball. He has excellent vision, acceleration, and instincts to go along with his speed. Auburn seems to like him, but it Is unclear yet how he views Auburn.

Williams is filled out and will probably north of 200 pounds going into his senior season. While being a bigger RB, heโ€™s still got the ability to break away from secondary players in the open field. His combination of size and speed make a 4 star in my rating system. He has not yet refined the little things such as quick cuts, vision in the zone run game, and shiftiness when needed. Auburn is currently communicating with Williams but have not yet extended an offer (that we know of). Very possible that an offer comes soon.

AUโ€™s interest is not what it once was, but they have stayed in communication with him. Henderson is one of the better athletes in the entire 2022 class. He could play multiple positions. He is best with the ball in his hands.

Allen is a big-bodied, heavy, forward lean type of back. Heโ€™s the workhorse type. Auburn has reached out and is currently trying to build a relationship.

Moss is another who has yet to receive an offer (that we know of) but has definitely heard from Auburn. He is a tough runner with good speed. He has a nice skill set with plenty of moves and can turn a play that should be a loss into a first down.
